Il progetto, in breve
Honor to the courage of Ugo Bedeschi (President of the social cooperative that manages the De André Theatre and director of the works that are set up there) and of the famous tenor Paolo Barbacini (
Artistic director of the competition) for having decided to focus on a title that for some years has been represented rather rarely.

The libretto tells of a rich and young bachelor, Fritz, against marriage, who bets with his friend Rabbi David who will never marry. The bet will be his beautiful vineyard … “Never say never”: he will in fact be conquered by the spontaneous grace of Suzel, the daughter of his farmer. David as a wedding gift will leave the bride won with the bet. The most famous scene of the opera is that in which the girl offers Fritz, who came to visit her farm, the freshly ripened cherries, fresh and wet with frost; the spring that is renewed disturbs the heart of the young man, who begins to feel
the first beats of love: it is the song that goes by the name of “duet of cherries”. A news story dating back to the late ’30s of the twentieth century: David was not called “rabbi”, but simply “doctor”, because of the fascist racial laws come into force in 1938.
In this specific project, the available orchestra had fewer instruments than the original score of the composer Pietro Mascagni (1863-1945). I have thus dealt with the reduction of the workforce by rewriting and completely re-adapting the lyric comedy in 3 acts "L'Amico Fritz", for a number of inferior instruments.
(13 Instrumentalists, soloists and choir).
It is a long and meticulous work that must be carried out with great attention and concentration.
Adaptation for the following orchestral instruments
1 French Horn
1 Trumpet Bb
1 Double Bass
