Il progetto, in breve

“Luca’s dawn” the film, was the closing event of the fourth “Day of reawakening for coma research – it’s worth”.

It is a digital feature film promoted by the non-profit association “Gli amici di Luca” to support the project “Casa dei Risvegli Luca De Nigris”, the innovative center for young people in a coma that will be born in the Bellaria Hospital area in Bologna and whose first stone was symbolically placed on the morning of the preview.
The film tells a true story enriched with fantasy elements for the scenic development. The director Roberto Quagliano defines it as “a real film made with a limited budget”.
He tells the story of Luca, a fifteen year old boy in a coma after a “perfectly successful” operation, and the drama of his parents who find no hope for his son: nor a center in Italy that could and would like to welcome him, nor a help from the scientific world.

The film tells a true story enriched with fantasy elements for the scenic development. Tells the story of Luca, a 15-year-old boy in a coma after a “perfectly successful” operation and the drama of his parents who find no hope for his son: nor a center in Italy that could and would like to welcome him, or help from the scientific world.
Suddenly they find themselves immersed in a world unknown to them, to have their boyfriend in a coma and not know what to do.

Suddenly they find themselves immersed in a world unknown to them: a world in which their boyfriend is in a coma and they do not know what to do. The film tells the story of two parents who face a problem deemed impossible to solve;
their courage in not wanting to surrender in front of a child considered by all lost after a “perfectly successful” operation; their journey in a world to the most unknown, the coma, made of silence, mystery and lack of communication.
But not only. The film also tells about non-communicability with a certain scientific world; of the three aunts of this brave and ironic boy, of their strength in supporting their sister, mother of Luke, also with joy; of the difficult relationship between two close parents in dealing with the drama of his son, joined even after his death to turn their pain into something positive compared to the memory of Luke but also socially useful to other boys in a coma: The house of awakenings, a highly innovative center of assistance and research, which eliminates the journeys of hope, creating a hope of care in Italy.
The structure, a project of great European importance, which will be born in Italy in the city of Bologna, has also had international recognition and represents, for this type of patient, a path towards the culture of treatment against the abandonment practice.

Support for this initiative is the goal of the film.

Freely drawn from the book: “The operation is perfectly successful” written by Maria Vaccari, Monica Vaccari and Fulvio De Negris (Alberto Perdisa publisher) and scripted by Roberto Quagliano and Luisa Grosso, The film is enriched by the original soundtrack by Beppe Carletti of Nomads with the songs “If I do not have you” from the album “Liberi di volare” (2000) and “Finding God” taken from the last album “Amore che amore amore che dai” (2002). Among the performers, in the part of the parents the actor and theatrical author Claudio Misculin and Linda Cerabolini, in the part of Luca Federico Natali and, in the part of himself, the doctor who really cured Luca De Nigris after the operation.

The original music composed by me, later chosen by the director Roberto Quagliano of the film production company Kamel Film of Bologna to insert them in this film, are compositions of "free inspiration", that is written without a specific purpose, if not to free themy musical creativity.Naturally the character of the music is aligned with the emotional moment in which I conceived them.

The choices made at the time of creation, adapt to the film perfectly, creating moments of profound emotional intensity.
